La corte del Castello di Casale Monferrato ha fatto da sfondo domenica 9 aprile alla presentazione dei volumi “Donne in Guerra” di Alessia M. Giorda e Francesco Ganora, ed “Un Granatiere tra i Granatieri che fecero l’Italia” di Laura Chiarello.
Hanno riscosso molto interesse nel pubblico i temi, spesso poco divulgati, a cui sono dedicati i due volumi. Alessia M. Giorda e Francesco Ganora hanno presentato per la prima volta la seconda edizione ampliata del loro saggio dedicato alle figure femminili sui campi di battaglia, portando alla luce dettagli di vite non facili solo rari casi celebrate, ma molto più spesso finite nell’oblio: donne al seguito degli eserciti come le mogli dei soldati, o donne con un ruolo riconosciuto come le vivandiere di reggimento, o anche donne che nascondevano la loro femminilità sotto vesti da soldato, combattendo nei ranghi degli eserciti sotto mentite spoglie.
La dura vita, piena di fatiche e pericoli, di queste donne sui campi di battaglia si è legata nel dialogo tra gli autori alle esperienze militari del giovane conte monferrino tenente Achille Miroglio di Moncestino nel periodo del Risorgimento Italiano. Laura Chiarello ha infatti ripercorso il ruolo poco noto della famiglia Miroglio tra il periodo Napoleonico e la Prima Guerra d’Indipendenza, e le battaglie a cui prese valorosamente parte il conte Achille dal 1859 sino alla morte sul campo di Custoza nel 1866, a soli 25 anni, che hanno dato spunto per diverse domande legate alla storia del Monferrato e dello stesso Castello di Casale.

The court of Casale Monferrato’s Castle was the backdrop Sunday, April 9 for the presentation of the volumes “Donne in Guerra” by Alessia M. Giorda and Francesco Ganora, and “Un Granatiere tra i Granatieri che fecero l’Italia” by Laura Chiarello.
The themes have attracted much interest in the public, themes often poorly disclosed, to wich are dedicated the two volumes. Alessia M. Giorda and Francesco Ganora have presented for the first time the second expanded edition of their essay dedicated to the female figures on the battlefields, bringing to light details of not easy lives only in rare cases celebrated, but more often simply forgotten: women in the wake of the armies as wives of soldiers, or women with a recognized role as the regiment sutler, or even women who hide their femininity under garments as a soldier, fighting in the ranks of armies in disguise.
The hard life, full of hardships and dangers of these women on the battlefield has been linked in the dialogue between the authors to the military experiences of the young monferrino count Lieutenant Achille Miroglio di Moncestino in the period of the Italian Risorgimento. Laura Chiarello has in fact traced the role of the little-known Miroglio’s family between the Napoleonic period and the First War of Independence, and the battles in which took valiantly part the count Achille from 1859 until his death on the battlefield of Custoza in 1866, at only 25 years of age, that gave inspiration to several questions related to the history of Monferrato and the Casale’s Castle itself.
